Dr. Flaherty joined the 色花堂 Biology Department in 2019. Prior to rejoining
the Aquinas community, this Aquinas alumna was a post-doctoral researcher at Michigan
State University. At MSU, Dr. Flaherty studied human cell responses to Group B Streptococcus, which is a bacterial pathogen that causes serious complications during pregnancy as
well as in newborn babies. She earned her Ph.D. in 2016 from the University of Notre Dame, where she studied
bacterial skin infections caused by Group A Streptococcus. In addition to her interests in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology,
Dr. Flaherty enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, painting, and leisure
reading.
